Editing in Print Preview

Summary: Long-time users of Word who make the switch to Word 2007 may be wondering how to do some of the tasks they took for granted in previous versions. If you are used to editing while in Print Preview mode, here's how to make sure that you can also do it in Word 2007. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 2007.)

Becki notes that in Word 2003 she could click on Print Preview mode and actually be able to edit while in that mode. When she upgraded to Word 2007, it no longer seemed that she could actually do any editing in Print Preview mode.

Actually, you can edit in Print Preview mode in Word 2007, just as you did in Word 2003. The only difference is that in Word 2007 you have to be careful when you do the editing. If you click on the Magnifier button, then clicking on the document zooms in and out, enlarging or reducing the apparent size of the document. With the Magnifier button selected, you cannot do editing.

To edit, turn the Magnifier off. This makes the mouse behave as normal, allowing you to click within the document and make edits as you previously did.

Tip #3435 applies to Microsoft Word versions: 2007

Great Idea! Word is a tool to get what you really want—printed output. This means you need to make sure that Word works as well as possible with your printer, whether it is sitting on your desk or in a room down the hall.
