Summary: When creating a table, you can turn the orientation of the text, within a cell, by ninety degrees in either direction from normal. It’s easy to do using either dialog boxes or toolbars, as described in this tip. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003, and Word 2007.)
Word allows you to quickly change the direction in which the text in a cell faces. For instance, you may want the text to be vertical instead of horizontal. You can change text direction by following these steps:
