Viewing Document Statistics

Summary: Word keeps track of different statistics about any given document. If you want to view those statistics, you can do so using the Properties dialog box, as discussed in this tip. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, and Word 2003.)

Word keeps track of an impressive array of statistics about your documents. These statistics include such mundane and obvious items as the file name, directory, template, and title. But you can also find out who last worked on the document, when it was last printed, and the total editing time spent on the document. This last statistic is nothing more than the time the document has been open.

If you want to view the statistics for the current document, follow these steps:

Choose the Properties option from the File menu. Word displays the Properties dialog box for your document.
Click on the Statistics tab. (Click here to see a related figure.) The dialog box then displays the statistics for your document, as already described.
Click on OK when you are done reviewing the statistics.
