Toggling Animation

Summary: Turning text animation on and off. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, and Word 2003.)

In other WordTips you learned how you can format your text using animation effects, if you are using Word 97 or a later version. Sometimes the animation can be distracting, and you might want to see how your text will appear when printed. Rather than go back and remove all the animation effects individually, you can simply turn them all off by following these steps:

  1. Choose Options from the Tools menu. Word displays the Options dialog box.
  2. Make sure the View tab is selected. (Click here to see a related figure.)
  3. In the Show area of the dialog box, make sure the Animated Text check box is selected.
  4. Click on OK.

You should note that this does not remove the animation formatting from your text. Instead, it simply turns it off so you can't see it. If you select the Animated Text setting again, all your animated text will again be visible.

Tip #614 applies to Microsoft Word versions: 97 | 2000 | 2002 | 2003
